So many jars
With our son recently turning one
and therefore passing into the apparent age of now being a ‘toddler’ he is
finally able to consume more scrumptious foods, that aren’t reliant upon baby
food jars and pouches. I like to try and really get my bang out of my bucks, so
I kept majority of the baby food jars, as some where different sizes, in hopes
to repurpose them. Who knows what uses I could find for them!?
One idea I had was to decoupage
the lids, so a few could be given away as gifts. (Provided there is something
inside the jar!)
I’ve collected over the years
lovely dainty little serviettes as they are often gifts from my family in Finland.
For those who are not in the country, Finnish serviettes are small, thin and
just wonderful. When I’ve asked for that to be the item I receive in care
packages, my family members have gone to find beautiful floral prints for me! I
didn’t have the heart to use any from my full sets, but I’ve had a few left over
ones from tea-parties. It was those ones I used to decoupage onto the baby jar
lids.
Let me supply the steps I did, but first the materials:
·
Jars with lids
·
Scissors
·
Decoupage glue
·
Serviettes or paper of choice
Directions:
1) As
I was using floral serviettes I cut out the small bunches of flowers and some
matching individual flowers.
2) I
then arranged around the lid of the jar and began to glue in place.
3) On
some of the lids, the floral design was intricate and pleasing to the eye I
simply cut out a size big enough for the lid. I repeated the process a few
times, as the serviettes are thin you can see the layer underneath peek through,
making the lid of flowers appear more densely.
4) Allow
the lids to dry, then pair with the jar.
Fun little
project and I can imagine fun little inserts can be added to the jars. I think
this would be a fabulous idea as a party favour for a tea-party.
I’ve repeated
this process a few times now and have ended up with nice and different jars.
Some I have given away and others I’ve used in my stationary draw for nicks and
nacks, like paper clips, thumb tacks..
