So Many Jars - Part 2
Hi All,
Well, it appears after clearing out some small
baby food jars, from the last time I mentioned these. I found another place I
had stored some jars and thought what is something different I could do to utilise
these jars. Hmm..
Well, turns out I found something indeed, and now I am unsure
if I would like to give the set away or keep it myself haha.
For this crafty project you will
need;
·
3 baby food jars, preferably the same size
·
Hot glue gun + extra glue gun sticks
·
3 alternative materials, I used paddle pop
sticks, wooden pegs and cinnamon bark tea
·
Scissors
·
Pen
With the required items gathered,
this is the how to guide in assembly.
Jar 1 – First off I
decided to cut the paddle pop sticks into two different lengths. After I
decided on the lengths I used the two paddle pops as templates onto about 14
(28 in total) each side. Then cut so each template had 14 sticks to match. My
sticks are about almost full length with the other scalloped end cut off. The second
size has the end cut off as well as about 1 inch down the stick removed also.
Now with the two I alternated them
around the jar, using the hot glue gun to keep them in place.
Jar 2- This time I used
the wooden pegs. Firstly, I removed the metal part holding the two sides
together then turned the peg so the flat side would rest against the jar.
Then using the hot glue gun I attached each peg side. I love the texture that
resulted from this jar.
Jar 3 – The last jar. I found
left over Cinnamon Tea Bark, I had purchased some years ago. It is a lovely
drink on it’s own with warm water or in warm milk! Reminds me of Christmas. Well
as it turns out I had forgotten to drink all of this one so it got thrown into
the crafty box.
(If you are interested in the purchase of this cinnamon tea, please go to website of shop, link provided.)
With this jar you need to work
slowly as you need to get a layer of the hot glue onto a section lengthwise on
the baby food jar, then roll it in the cinnamon bark. Refer to picture for
better understanding. Then do this all around the jar. Cut off (avoid pulling
off as you might accidentally pull off some bark!) the stringy excess hot glue
gun bits to clean up the jar.
Now all jars are completed and can
be used for decoration, as candle holders – mmmm imagine the smell that would
come off that cinnamon one! Or even item holders. Would be a pretty nice way to
store some pens and markers.
These jars could be completed as
a set or individually. What ever you prefer. I would recommend with the paddle
pop stick to put a lovely thin plain colour ribbon around near the base to jazz
it up a bit as otherwise it can look a bit plain in the set.
This project ended up quite
rustic in appearance. Therefore, I haven’t fully decided to keep the idea
myself. Our home is quite coastal in appearance, and I am thinking there a few
friends who have rustic and warm décor throughout their homes.
Have a good week ahead and remember
to find your flare!
