What is creativity?

Hi Everyone,

Today I feel like putting aside all my crafty, cooking/baking, recreating and repurposing orientated blog posts. Today I feel like explaining my idea of creativity. Firstly though, the dictionary spins the word like this;

Noun: Creativity
1.       The use of imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness.
“The firms are keen to encourage creativity.”
Synonyms of this word include (look at these words!)
Inventiveness, imagination, imaginativeness, innovation, innovativeness, originality, artistry, expressiveness, inspiration, vision, creative power, creative talent, creative gift, creative skill, resourcefulness, ingenuity, enterprise.

In the Bible, the idea of creativity is thought of like this;

Exodus 35:35
He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers.

Genesis 1:27
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Proverbs 22:29
Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Colossians 3:23
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

This way of understanding creativity explains how our God is very creative and gifted us with the same essence and ability to make and create.

So how do all these meanings of creativity alter my view on the word?

I believe creativity is something innovative, inspiring, different and alive. Alive? I mean when I have a moment of sheer creativity I feel alive, inspired, upbeat and lifted. Like I want to make more ideas and suggestions about things. I also feel it is a way to inspire others, help them to get the innovative vibe.

In these past weeks I feel I am also more compassionate towards the ways others present themselves, for example the way they dress is an essence of their personality and creativity. I am also spotting more blessings everywhere, every day. It is a true blessing to enjoy life with others and share so much wonder!
(A single rose growing in a spot where the soil is hard and where it would have appeared to yield poor results. Sometimes it is best to go against the odds! And just look at the roses friends soon to blossom!)

What is your interpretation of creativity? Where do you get some of your ideas from? How do you like to do things? From organising to being messy each of us find our own ways, and those ways are examples of our creative flare.

Think about those questions for yourself and how would you answer what creativity is? Please feel free to let me know in the comments 😊

Look forward to sharing more creativeness next week!

(In a moment of playtime with my son I realised how two of his play toys could in fact be viewed as "Jasmine and Rajah" from the Disney movie Aladdin. Well it is my favourite Disney movie so of course my perspective would yield this result haha.)

(I decided to share a few creative orientated pictures, with explanations under each.)

Bye for now!
